Baynton Cottage is located on the northern side of Mt Gibraltar. It has views to the Blue Mountains and Sydney. The house is a two story dwelling with two large bedrooms, a bathroom, a large kitchen dining room and living room with fireplace. The renovation entailed increasing the size of the bathroom and refurbishing it with Carrara marble mosaic floors, a claw foot bath and a rain shower.
New European oak floors were laid throughout and the downstairs laundry and powder room was completely refurbished. A new kitchen was installed with a freestanding Smeg cooker, built in fridge and freezer and substantial Joya Carrara bench. The design intent for the refurbishment was contemporary modern; as such careful attention was paid to cabinetry detailing, fixtures, fittings, furniture and furnishings to ensure the objective of a luxury retreat was achieved.
The terrace overlooks a parterre rose garden, which has been brought back to life, with the replanting of the rose beds, the addition of Saville, mandarin, magnolia and olive trees, and the replanting of tulips and daffodils in the central beds surrounding the fountain. Wisteria covers 3 iron arbors which lead to a new stepped granite pool, set within the rose garden, a new bocce court and seating area adjacent to the greenhouse.
